MANUFACTURING firm Roland Group has begun the search for a growing or start-up Suffolk business, whose commercial needs require the use of a high-tech clean-room facility.

The Wickham Market based company has until recently been providing its specialist space, complete with stores, forklift and engineer support, to the thriving sustainable paper packaging firm Frugalpac, which has now outgrown the facility.

With a long history of helping entrepreneurial Suffolk businesses grow and develop, Roland Group is keen to find a young or rapidly developing East Anglian venture, which could now utilise the modern space.

Clean room facility in Suffolk

Suitable for a number of market uses, the independently accessed clean room is considered particularly ideal for a business focusing on medical, food and beverage, or specialist assembly.

Our Class 8 Clean Rooms are essential in manufacturing where hygiene and contamination control are paramount – The positive pressure ensures the highest levels of cleanliness during production. Beyond this, the new resident business, which will be charged a nominal rent, will also have the added benefit of access to Roland Group’s onsite services in plastic injection moulding, electronics assembly, and testing.

Ben Emerson, Director, said: “Helping other businesses to grow and to achieve their product development aspirations has been very rewarding over the years of Roland’s operation.

“We’re really keen to ensure that our Class 8 clean room facility can now play a key part in enabling a Suffolk enterprise to reach a level of commercial success or opportunity that they might not have been able to, were it not for a specialist location such as ours.”

Barrie Hayter, Head of Sales & Marketing, said: “Having this space available to help other businesses to grow, without them having to invest the £50,000 required to build something bespoke, will be very beneficial to a new or smaller business.”

Roland Group employs 30 staff and has remained fully operational throughout the pandemic. It started life as Girdlestone Pumps in the 1960’s and has since gone on to provide extensive manufacturing to a range of industries throughout Great Britain.
