Just in time for the roll-out of a UK-trial involving some 3,000 workers, we at Roland Group have decided we too believe that the ‘Four Day Week’ is a great solution for effectiveness, productivity, and work-life balance.
The idea of a four-day week has long been discussed among British businesses, and this June sees the start of a pilot designed to show that workers, employers, the environment and our community, all benefit more.
Improved work-life balance
Here at Roland, we’ve taken the decision to move our factory to a four-day week functioning rota, meaning we operate Monday to Thursday (increasing output during this period to create the same productivity period), with employees now able to enjoyer a longer weekend – while reducing their reliance on fuel for travel, improving work-life balance and us minimising energy output onsite.
The decision has been reached through close consultation with all staff.
Ben Emerson, owner of Roland Group, said: “We’re always keen to embrace new and efficient ways of working, and to talk to employees about what they feel would be best for them, their families, and their energy use.
“The idea of a four-day week was extremely popular, and we’re pleased to be introducing it this month.”
Jonathan Paul, ETL director, added, “This is a terrific solution in so many ways and we’re so pleased to see the staff are united in their desire to introduce it.”
